Howdy y'all!
Time to do a couple more uploads tonight, and we start with this one I got from
sandyschreiber during a livestream on Picarto a couple of weekends ago. Let's fire up the Wayback Machine!
I grew up watching a LOT of Hanna-Barbera stuff in the late '60s and '70s, and one of my absolute favorites was "Wacky Races". I loved the madcap slapstick of the races, the diverse cast of characters, and of course, the dirty tricks of Dick Dastardly that always seemed to backfire on him. But the character that most caught my attention was the only female driver, Penelope Pitstop, with her Southern charm and competitive spirit. So when she got her own spin-off series, "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop", that became a staple of my Saturday afternoons, too, along with Dick's own spin-off, "Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines".
So the idea popped into my head of having my OC Jennifer Sherwood indulging in a bit of cosplay as Penelope in the outfit she wore in the "Perils". Sandy, who also had enjoyed those shows growing up, jumped at the chance to draw it and rendered this outstanding interpretation of the character -- and then added in Muttley as an extra for no charge, because she was loving how it was turning out. Dick's loyal(ish) canine companion is clearly thinking Jennifer has nailed the look, and offering a token of his admiration and affection. Awww....

Muttley, Dick Dastardly, Penelope Pitstop, and the respective cartoons they have appeared in are © by Hanna-Barbera Animation and used under fan art/parody exceptions to copyright law. I have a very distinct memory of an episode of him and what I think is Winsome Witch doing a plot which was a mix of Hansel & Grettel and The Musicians of Bremen (Muttley and Winsome think lost children want to eat their forest cottage, turns out it's robbers looking for a new hideout after farm animals blocked their last one, they tie them up and turn them in which Muttley finds hilarious)
...but I can't find it in Google.
It is most likely that i'm thinking of an episode of Precious Pupp (1965), who has the same laugh and the same name as Muttley in translation. However since there's no comprehensive summary of all the episodes online, I can't tell if there's any where where Granny looks like a witch. The only thing that doesn't gel with my memory is that Precious laughs on all fours wheras Muttley holds his muzzle when he laughs, and I am very, very sure the dog I remember was holding his muzzle when he laughed.
Another strong candidate is the Yogi Bear Movie (1964) where two criminal-minded animal-tamers own a dog, but the dog thwarts their plans and ends up making Cindy Bear wear a circus costume. However, this dog also laughs on all fours.
